
Final Day
On our final day in Chaparral we woke up with about 2 inches of snow on the ground!!! Hard to believe in New Mexico's desert it would look a lot like Worcester, MA. It was absolutely mind boggling. After the snow melted we headed to the sisters for afternoon prayer and lunch. we enjoyed lovely conversation and they gave Sandy and I the idea to go to la Mesilla. it was located about 35 minutes from the AMA house and it is a quaint town. Day 4
Happy Feast day St. Marie Eugenie! We started today in Mass with a service for the lovely foundress and Saint of the Assumption, Marie Eugenie. All day was accompanied with sweet treats and blessings to her. We then accompanied the Sisters on their weekly trip to the CDR! The refugee center, Casa del Refugiado, is a place of never ending hope. It offers the ability to meet every human necessity in an organized way. Day 3
Today was a simple day. I had breakfast with Sandy and added a touch of color with new curtains in Casa Maria Eugenia, the AMA house. We enjoyed a lunch with the sisters, and had a meeting with a wonderful woman who works for Catholic Charities in Las Cruces. Later in the evening we had prayer in light of it being Saint Mary Eugénie's feast day tomorrow. Marie Eugénie once said, "Each one of us is the object of a choice and of the call of Love." Day 2
Today started with a lovely hike conveniently 30 minutes from Casa de Maria Eugenia, the Sierra Vista Trail was along the Organ Mountains with the Franklin Mountains behind in the distance. We got to experience the sizable lands of New Mexico and we even got to see some cows walking freely on a trail. In the evening we were at the refugee center, Casa del Refugiado, founded by Reuben Garcia. We met the gracious people seeking asylum in the United States. A poem Action of Hope

First Day in Chaparral reflection by Tori Borruso
March 7th Day one of traveling and we were met with open arms here in Chaparral. We already got to experience the great Mexican food from a restaurant called Tio Juan. We learned more about the services that are performed by the Sisters, and we will be participating in some tomorrow.
